JD’s leadership is defined by his vast experience and genuine love for homebuilding. For as long as he can remember, building homes has been a significant part of his life. As a third-generation homebuilder, JD grew up immersed in the industry, gaining hands-on experience in nearly every aspect of the home construction process. He learned the craft from an early age, gradually taking on new roles and responsibilities and gaining a deep understanding of what it means to build high-quality, custom homes. This lifelong experience has given JD a unique perspective and a strong foundation to lead with expertise, innovation, and a passion for excellence in homebuilding. And while he does have a deep passion for building exceptional homes, JD is even more grateful for the incredible team with whom he gets to build those homes. Luke Hanson
VP Of StrategyLuke Hanson is an avid outdoor enthusiast with a passion for traveling and exploring the world. He spends many evenings hiking with his dog, Meeko, and can often be found recharging within the beauty of nature. His adventurous spirit is matched by his curiosity about different cultures and landscapes, which is reflected in his extensive travels across the globe. Luke pursued his education in finance, economics, and real estate at the University of South Florida, which laid a strong foundation for his career in new construction and real estate sales. He started learning the ins and outs of home building from his Father, Dean Hanson, when he was just 11 years old! This early start shaped his knowledge and work ethic and gave him invaluable experiences that continue to influence his career today. If you ever meet Luke, be sure to ask him about his world travels — he’s always happy to share stories from the many places he’s visited!

Dean Hanson
FounderFrom the time he was 12, Dean Hanson worked with his father on all kinds of building projects. By the time he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in chemistry, physics, and mathematics, he was an accomplished carpenter. In 1979, he and his father founded Hanson Builders. Dean wore many hats in those days. During the weekdays, he continued his carpentry work as he and his father framed their own homes and completed all the finish trim work. At night, Dean handled all accounting and billing for the company. During the weekends, he worked in their model homes as the sales agent for Hanson Builders. He was deeply involved in every aspect of the home-building process, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience that proved invaluable as the company grew. From 1985 to today, every home built has been based off a drawing and design created within the Hanson Builders team. For more than 45 years, Dean Hanson’s passion has been building homes. He loves this company, and he loves being a builder. It speaks to the heart and soul of who he is.

Tim Nolan
VP Of Sales & MarketingAs VP of Sales & Marketing, Tim is responsible for both the organization’s day-to-day and long-term marketing and sales activities and strategies. He is also the Broker for Hanson Builders, and works closely with the sales team to help clients discover and purchase their dream homes. Tim joined Hanson Builders in 2018. He previously worked for several large, publicly owned builders and was looking for a change of pace. After meeting Dean and JD Hanson, he realized that Hanson Builders was the special place he had been searching for. Tim loves being part of a team that supports each other and works hard to provide the highest quality homes for Minnesota families. Tim studied real estate and business at the University of Cincinnati. When he’s not working, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, boating, hunting and the outdoors.

Jerrid Voss
VP Of PurchasingAs our VP of Purchasing, Jerrid oversees the procurement process for Hanson Builders. He forms relationships with trade partners and vendors and acquires the high-quality materials used to make our homes last a lifetime. Jerrid joined Hanson Builders in 2018, eager to join a team of like-minded individuals with a genuine passion for homebuilding. He appreciates the care our company shows for every home and every person involved in the process, from employees and trade partners to the homeowners themselves. He is proud to be part of a culture that builds long-term relationships and continuously looks for new ways to improve. Jerrid graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. He and his wife, Brooke, enjoy improving and maintaining their property while spending time with their horses and dogs. Jerrid is also an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt and fish.

Scott Hockert
VP Of ProductionAs Hanson Builders’ VP of Production, Scott supports our office and field teams with whatever they need on a daily basis. He collaborates with all departments to ensure that production stays on pace with the company’s goals. He is also responsible for producing special projects, such as offsite builds, pool houses, and office buildouts. Scott started at Hanson Builders in 2014 as Purchasing Manager and stayed in that role for four years. He spent the next two years gaining experience with a national builder before returning to our team in 2020 as Production Manager. Scott was promoted to VP of Production in 2023. He loves the autonomy and flexibility of working for a private, locally owned company and appreciates the high quality for which our homes are known. He is proud to be part of a team that never takes shortcuts and is dedicated to providing the best finished product for every client. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from UW Stout. Outside of work, he and his family enjoy life on and around the lake. A few of their favorite activities include pontoon rides, fishing, bonfires, 4-wheeling, pheasant hunting, and ice fishing.

Garrison Groustra
VP of DesignIn his role as VP of Design, Garrison oversees home designs, project management, architectural approvals, permit submissions, and other aspects of the drafting process. He guides clients through their many customization options and works closely with his team to ensure accuracy in all home plans. Garrison joined Hanson Builders in 2013 as a Drafting Assistant, gradually taking on more responsibilities until landing in his current role. He was drawn to Hanson Builders’ reputation for quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to client vision. He appreciates being part of a collaborative team that finds creative solutions for every challenge. And most of all, he loves building homes that families will enjoy for years to come. Garrison studied architectural drafting at Anoka Technical College. Beyond work, he enjoys spending time with his family, especially his two sons, Weston and Grayson. He also likes to travel and work on projects around his home.

Mike Carbone
VP Of ConstructionAs our VP of Construction, Mike oversees all field and construction-related activities across all Hanson Builders job sites. He keeps a close eye on our building projects, ensuring that each one maintains the highest level of quality, safety, and compliance with building codes. He also works closely with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure each project’s successful and timely completion. Mike joined Hanson Builders in 2008 as a Job Supervisor, at a time when many builders were downsizing. But Hanson Builders was expanding, and he was excited to join a growing company that was committed to quality and innovation. He thrives on solving problems and facing challenges that arise in custom home building. And when a project is completed, the sense of gratification Mike feels makes every day truly rewarding. He also feels privileged to work alongside the best field team in the industry. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting and appreciating all the outdoors have to offer. But most of all, Mike loves spending time with his wife and three kids.
